And here I was hopeful that the snow was finally going to be over…

I have started to receive calls about the end of the year activities--and today’s snow is the reason that I have not yet announced the dates for those activities--however, for planning purposes I thought I would outline the current possibilities for people. Currently, the last school day for students is Friday, June 7th. If (fingers crossed) we have no more snow days, 8th grade graduation will be on Thursday, June 6th. However, if we have another snow day, the last day for students will move to Monday, June 10th, and that will also be 8th grade graduation (because, full disclosure, having 8th graders graduate and then have to come to school for two more days is a challenge that no parent or teacher wants to have). If we have no more snow days before April 12th, we will officially set the 8th grade graduation date for Thursday, June 6th at 7pm!

As for other activities, 8th grade grad dance will be on Saturday, June 1st. Meet Your Teacher Night will be on Monday, June 3rd for our incoming 6th graders, and Honors Night will be Tuesday, June 4th. These dates won’t change if there are other snow days this year. For many of us, that first week of June is going to be a busy one, but it is always exciting to celebrate all of these special events! It is also a little mind-blowing to me that we are already at that time of year where we are talking about end of the year activities--this year has flown by!

Dental Program at HMMS!
We are pleased to be offering for the first time at HMMS the APD Upper Valley Smiles School Dental Program.  Many of our students have participated in the program in the elementary schools, but this is our first time hosting at the middle level.  You may have received a permission slip for this program at your child’s portfolio presentation.  If not, you may follow the link above and return the slip to the school with your child.  The clinics include a screening, fluoride varnish and sealant as needed, and a brief cleaning.  The clinics are completely free and open to anyone who would like to participate. We will be hosting the clinics on Wednesday April 24th and Friday April 26th.  Permission forms are due back by Friday April 5th. If you have not received a form and cannot print from the link above, please call the school nurse and we will be happy to send a hard copy form home.  We are looking forward to bringing the program to HMMS!

Family Night in Special Education A huge congratulations to Kim Moreno, who was named HSD Special Education Director this Wednesday after serving this year as interim director. We are thrilled to continue to work with Kim! She will be hosting a Family Night in Special Education on Monday March 25th from 6:30-7:30 in the HHS Library. For more information, please read her letter. We hope many of you can attend and get the chance to get to know Kim better!
