This coming week is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Here at the middle school we would like to host a breakfast to say thank you to our teachers next Friday morning. If your family is willing to contribute, please send in or drop off breakfast items or treats on Friday before school. We would love to load up the staff room with all sorts of goodies to thank our awesome staff and send them into the weekend feeling appreciated (and maybe a little overly sugared and caffeinated).

In thinking about teacher appreciation, I also just want to take a moment to tell you a few of the things I appreciate about the teachers at HMMS.
They are willing to do just about anything--including, but not limited to getting pied in the face, dancing in front of students, and wearing funny costumes.
They think outside the box--our kids get to experience some really amazing learning opportunities because our teachers are constantly looking for new ways to engage students in authentic and meaningful learning.
They love middle school. It takes a special person to love middle school and we are fortunate to have an entire staff committed to that age group.
They are constantly seeking to improve--their instructional practice, our building culture, their teams. Our teachers are lifelong learners and work to impart that to students.
Most importantly, they love your kids. They believe in them, want them to succeed, and, most importantly, care deeply about them as people.
We are incredibly lucky to have a team of amazing educators working in this building and throughout the Hartford School District who are truly committed to teaching the whole person and developing young adults who can thrive in our community and our world. Please join me in celebrating them next week!
