HMMS Prepares for Summer Renovation Project!

As we wind-up the last two weeks of the school year we are also preparing for an awesome renovation project that will begin June 13, 2013. Our gymnasium will be getting a new floor, new basketball backboards, new bleachers, and the interior end wall will be extended to the parking lot to connect to a new back entrance. And that's just the start! The floor below the gymnasium housing our kitchen, cafeteria, fitness room, locker rooms, physical education offices, and several custodial closets will be gutted out and completely renovated. The fitness center will be removed and will be housed in its own building constructed where the old pool house is now located. We will be getting a new kitchen, cafeteria, locker rooms (with real working showers), physical education offices, a new physical therapy room, and storage area. This project will complete the last of several renovations to our building over a long period of time and will be the first renovation of the locker rooms, kitchen, and physical education offices since the building was constructed in the mid 1950's! The plan is to have this all finished by the start of school on August 26, 2013.

Athletic Registration for the Fall

Hartford Memorial Middle School has a new software program for student sports registration. Please go to, or click the link on the athletic page of the school website. Click on the Create New Account button to open your account and to provide us with emergency contacts, allergy/medical info & more so we can serve you better.

You will never have to fill out paperwork for sports again and you can sign-up for all three sports seasons at once. This will allow for better communication through email and text messaging with coaches, parents and student-athletes.

Fall Athletes must be signed-up by June 1st.

Do not worry about uploading a physical form. This step is not necessary to sign-up for sports and can be updated in the future. For many returning athletes, I already have a form on file and will update the profile once your student-athlete has finished the process.

Also when signing up your student-athlete, please place the grade he or she is currently in this spring. On June 1st and beyond indicate the grade they will be entering the fall.

If you have any issues please feel free to contact me.

Thank You

Justin Wardwell, HMMS Athletic Director

Honors Night is coming Thursday June 6th

We will have an evening recognition awards assembly at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th in the Hartford High School gymnasium for students who made academic honor roll, all A's and B's, for the first three terms of the year. Parents and family members are invited to attend! Postcards are being mailed home to students who have qualified and there will be a list posted in the main lobby. Following the assembly, there will be an informal reception outside on the lawn with cookies and water. If you have any questions, please contact one of the office staff at 295-8640.

8th Grade Grad Dance

The 8th grade Grad Dance will be held on Saturday June 8th from 7-9:30 p.m.. This is always an exciting event for students and parents alike. Every year there are many parents who want to take pictures on the night of the grad dance, so we would like to set aside a special time for pictures so we have set aside a special time from 7 to 7:30. As long as the weather cooperates, pictures can be taken outdoors from 7-7:15, with doors opening at 7:15 for parents to take pictures inside. Music and dancing will officially start at 7:30.

Parent and Student Advice on the Grad Dance

Parents and students are reminded that the Grad Dance is only for eighth graders from our school. It is a semi-formal event; gowns and tuxedos are strongly discouraged as is the use of limousines. Students are encouraged to come in groups with their friends and do not need dates. Please keep in mind that this is an eighth grade dance to celebrate the completion of middle school and to allow students one more fun event to share with classmates.

8th Grade Graduation and Celebration

We will have our 8th grade graduation ceremony on the side lawn of the Middle School (weather permitting) at 7 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend. There will be several guest and student speakers, awards, and the issuing of certificates.
